Happy New Year! My friends arrived safe and sound and in record time due to the fact that there was no traffic at 4am. We had a very tranquilo (calm) New Years seenign that most things in the city were closed. We spent New Years Eve day walking around the city mostly around Avendia de Mayo and Puerto Madero. In the evening we went to a concert in the middle of 9th de Julio (the biggest street in the world) that featured tango music that was being broadcast to the world. We then cooked a lovely dinner in my apartment and the new year was announced not by a ball dropping but the popping of hundreds of fire works being throw by children in the street.
New Years day we took a picnic to the park in Palermo and threw the frisbee around bit. Evering thing was closed and it was stifling hot so we couldn't do to much.
Yesterday, afet braving the tourist hunters and shops of Avenida Florida, we got on a but for an 18 hour ride to Iguazu. We were riding in style as we chose the second highest class bus that has big comfy reclining chair and lots of amenities. The only thing was there were lots screaming children in teh bus. luckily i took care of a little girl in front of us. She looked back at me mid scream and I made a shush sign and amazingly it worked and she didn't make a sound the rest of the trip.
After a rather nice sleep in the bus, we arrived to the jungle and wouldn't you know it but it's pouring. We found out hostel easily enough. It's fully equipped with pool, bar, billards, ping pong, foosball., tv's, etc. so even in the rain keeps up we shouldn't get too bored. Tomorrow we will explore the huge waterfalls and maybe even venture into Brazil. Pictures adn adventure stories coming up!
